Ukko close to eye

Has been quiet for some time due to summer activities. Here is a picture taken at lake Inari in Lapland. The dot close to Timos eye is the  Ukko island in lake Inari.  That island is an old holy place of Saame people.

Bohemian Waxwing

Siberian Jay

Siberian Jay is a symphatetic bird found in old forests in Lapland.  Birds are not shy and very curious.   They were five around me when I took this picture in Inari.

Pine Grosbeak

While being in Lapland I went to look for Dippers, Pine Grosbeaks, Siberian Jays and Whooping Swans. I found all of these and in addition Common Redpolls.

Dipper in Inari

Today was a beautiful day in Inari, at the very top of Finland.  There is a rapid area Jurmu-koski where about 20 dippers are wintering.

We visited (together with my brother Heikki) Neljän Tuulen Tupa in Kaamanen, Inari.  They opened this season today and we were the first customers. There will be visiting many bird watchers and photo takers soon.
